Male Breast Reduction
Breast Reductions are not just for women.
Male Breast Reduction has grown in popularity over the last few years. Men are starting to realize that with a simple procedure, they can regain some of their youthful and fit physique.
Male Breast Reduction can eliminate embarrassing excess tissue commonly referred to as “man boobs.” This puckering of skin is often a sign of aging or excessive weight gain. Our Male Breast Reduction procedure can help you erase this sign of aging and create a younger, more athletic chest. Your clothes will look better and you will feel more confident with your more defined pectoral muscles.
What is a Male Breast Reduction?
Also known as Gynecomastia, Male Breast Reduction, is the surgical correction of over-developed or enlarged breasts in men. It is characterized as excess localized fat, excess glandular tissue or both. It may be present in either both breasts or only one. The condition of over-developed or enlarged breasts in men is common at any age. It can be the result of hormonal changes, genetics, disease or use of certain drugs. This condition can cause emotional discomfort, impair self-confidence and refrain patients from certain physical activities and intimacy to hide their condition.
Benefits of a Male Breast Reduction
- Improve your ability to work out comfortably
- Finally be secure in your own body
- Feel more masculine and look more physically fit
Who is a Good Candidate?
The surgical procedure is recommended on candidates that have a healthy lifestyle and relatively normal weight with realistic expectations. Breast development should be stabilized however, adolescents may benefit from the surgery, although secondary procedures may be needed should breast development continue.
In results where the enlarged breast is the result of excess fatty tissue, Liposuction may be used. This process requires the insertion of a cannula with a small incision by which excess fat is removed by vacuum suction.
Excision techniques are recommended where glandular breast tissue or excess skin is necessary to correct the condition. Excision of the areola will be reduced, or the nipple repositioned to a more natural male contour. Incision patterns vary depending on the specific condition and surgical preference. It is important to note that while most incision lines are concealed with the natural contours, some may be visible and are a necessary result of the breast reduction surgery.
Post Procedure & Recovery
After surgery, dressings or bandages will be applied to your incisions. A support/compression garment is to be worn to minimize swelling and to support the tissue as it heals. In some cases, a small tube may be placed temporarily to assist in the draining of excess fluid. The results will be visible once the swelling subsides. You will be instructed when you may resume physical activity.
